Crow Wing County Republicans hear from Emmer, other candidates

Posted: Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Delano, a candidate for governor, addressed Republicans in Crow Wing County on Saturday, party officials said.

County Republicans also heard from two Eighth District congressional candidates and elected delegates to the next level of GOP conventions at Saturday's meeting, party officials said.

Addressing the crowd were Kevin Goedker, who announced his candidacy for the House District 12A seat; former Rep. Paul Gazelka, a candidate for the Senate District 12 seat; District 12 incumbent Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley; Ryan Hartwig, House District 12A candidate; Zachariah Jackson, House District 12A candidate; Chip Cravaak and Justin Eichorn, Eighth District congressional candidates. Statements were read on behalf of other candidates.

Crow Wing County Chair Doug Kern said no officers or director were elected at the meeting.

Details of the March 27 Senate District 12 endorsing likely will be completed this week, Kern said. He said he expects the Senate District 12 endorsing convention will be followed by a House District 12A endorsing convention. The location will be at Tornstrom Auditorium at the Washington Educational Services Building in Brainerd.

Morrison County Republican Chair Perry Nouis said details of the House District 12B endorsing convention have not yet been completed.

The Crow Wing County Republican convention was conducted at Central Lakes College in Brainerd.
