The Pequot Lakes Middle School student of excellence awards are for students who are performing at the top level of excellence in school. They include sixth-graders Emilee Buell and Brendon Wilcox, seventh-graders Jessica Nies and Mitchell Sergent and eighth-graders Peter Kostecka and Savannah Stone.
Each quarter an art student from sixth, seventh and eighth grade at Pequot Lakes Middle School is selected as the artist of the quarter. These students have shown great artistic skills and have had a positive attitude toward learning. They include Brett Gontarek, sixth grade; Haylie Murphy, seventh grade; and Katarina Jensen, eighth grade.
Pierz Healy High School seniors Kaari Jensen, daughter of Mark and Karla Jensen, and Michael Weber, son of George and Marge Weber, were selected to represent Region 5A in the Academics, Arts and Athletics Award program. The Triple "A" Award is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League.

Three Central Lakes College students were awarded scholarships worth a total of $1,300 from a fund for those studying Spanish and Latin American studies. Amanda Cox, Verndale, and Maritza Ornelas, Motley, each were awarded $550, and Matthew Salinas, Crosby, received $200 from the Poland-Kurtz Scholarship.
