I thought I'd "heard it all" when it came to ridiculous behavior by school administrators. However, the front page story which greeted me about Pequot Lakes Junior High Schoolers being disciplined for excessive hugging, goes to the top of the list for asininity!
I love the term bantered around by these administrators "unnecessary behavior." What exactly is that? It's whatever an administrator deems, and frankly it does not have anything to do with getting an education.
I have two teenaged daughters, one this age and I think a major part of this "dastardly act" of excessive hugging is normal at this age and they'll outgrow it, as they do most everything else.
It's obvious that Pequot Lakes Junior High has an abundance of very warm, bright and eager students administered by the "Grinch's" helpers.
Well, I suppose you are giving these kids an educational lesson -- in stupidity!
I wonder if Ms. Tweed is capable of doing an article about the positive and important things that the area schools and staff are doing. I also wonder if the liberal Brainerd Daily Dispatch would give her a full front-page spread to do it. Hugging -- come on, newspaper, get real.
