COLD SPRING - Kyle Crocker scored 22 points to lead the Brainerd Warriors in a hard-fought 54-51 loss to Class 3A's 10th-ranked Rocori Spartans in Central Lakes Conference boys' basketball Thursday.
Ben Gervais added 15 points as the Warriors slipped to 7-7 in conference play, 10-10 overall.
Brainerd coach Matt Urbanek said the Warriors' goal was to control the tempo and take Rocori out of its patented half-court offense.
"I thought we controlled the tempo," he said. "We had trouble early but we changed to a small lineup and had a good run."
The Warriors trailed by seven at the half, but played one of their most intense second halves of the season, according to Urbanek.
Adam Meyer scored a game-high 19 points for the Spartans.
