Deep Portage to host variety of events

HACKENSACK - Deep Portage Learning Center in Hackensack will host musical events, winter weekends, weaving and block printing in the coming weeks.

Bill Staines will perform at 7 p.m. Friday. Dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Cost for the evening is $15.

A Winter Weekend is scheduled Friday-Sunday. Cost is $100 per adult, $85 for participants under 18 and free for children under 5. The cost includes lodging, meals, snowshoe hiking, cross country skiing, ice fishing, campfire, astronomy, nature arts and climbing wall. Use of equipment is included. A family rate is available.

Staff member Laura Nordaas will teach a course at 1:30 p.m. March 11 on weaving recycled plastic bags into coin purses, tote bags and other notions. Cost is $5.

Katie Colvin will teach the art of block printmaking at 1:30 p.m. March 25. The activity is suitable for both children and adults. Participants will make note cards to take home. Cost is $5 per artist.
