Rev. Douglas M. Henderson

The Rev. Douglas M. Henderson, 80, Brainerd, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.

He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Brainerd to Charles L. "Roy" and Florence F. (Foster) Henderson. He married Beatrice on Dec. 28, 1941. He served in the Army Air Force from June 15, 1942, to July 16, 1945. Upon his return from military service in Egypt, he entered North Central Bible College, graduating in 1948. He was a pastor of the Peoples Church Assemblies of God (now Columbia Heights Assemblies of God) for 38 years. He served as interim pastor as a semi-retired minister at various churches since 1984, including two years in Walker. He fully retired in 1998. He was a member of Brainerd Assemblies of God Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul Henderson, Fridley, and John Henderson, Champlin; a daughter, Rebecca Fong, Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Henderson, Brainerd, and Bruce Henderson, Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Maxine Pointon, Lincoln, Ark.

His daughter, Elizabeth, died earlier.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brainerd Assemblies of God Church with Pastor Mark Boone and the Rev. Clarence St. John officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred.

Arrangements are with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
