EAST GULL LAKE - The fourth annual Gull Lake Frozen Fore will be Feb. 28-March 1 in the Gull Lake area.
Participants are challenged to a golf activity or game at each of the nine locations. Golf is played with a tennis ball and clubs that are provided at each location. Golf starts 9 a.m. Saturday and finishes at 5 p.m. Golf skill is not required and participants may start at any time on any hole.
Once players have finished at a location, they can use one of nine free shuttles, ride their own snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle or drive their car to the next location. There isn't a set route so players may travel individually or as a group around to each of the nine locations.
The event includes a digital camera scavenger hunt. Each location will have an item or theme to photograph. Participants may gather all nine and enter a drawing.
Participating locations include Bar Harbor, Cragun's Legacy Courses, Ernie's on Gull, Grand View Lodge, Kelly's, Matty's, Quarterdeck Resort, Zorbaz on Gull and Hole-in-the-Day Bay.
Advance ticket price is $35 for the full weekend and includes admission to Sunday's third annual Frozen Fore Food Fest. Ticket price the day of the event is $45 and includes the Food Fest; and Sunday's Food Fest ticket is $10; $5 for children 16 and younger. Be sure to stick around for the awards at 1 p.m.
Lodging and snowmobile rental is available at Cragun's, Quarterdeck Resort and Grand View Lodge. A volunteer committee whose passion is bringing economics to the Brainerd lakes area runs the Gull Lake Frozen Fore. Proceeds are donated to three area charities - Confidence Learning Center, Ski Gull and the Blue Line Club.
The first 300 paid entries get a free Gull Lake Frozen Fore Survival Kit. For more information, go online to www.gulllakefrozenfore.com or contact any of the nine participating locations.
