The Brainerd High School a capella choir will travel to Minneapolis to perform for the north central division convention of the American Choir Directors Association. The a capella choir was the only Minnesota high school choir asked to perform solo.

A lonely fishouse on Gilbert Lake serves as a reminder that at least one phase of winter is all but over. Only panfish and crappies are still legal game for anglers and all houses must be removed from the ice by midnight Feb. 28.

Bud Grant, Minnesota Vikings head coach, made his first speaking appearance in that capacity in Brainerd Thursday night at the Elks Lodge, whose stag night fete, attracted a large throng.

George Falconer, past president of the Harrison P.T.A. in behalf of the P.T.A. presented a corsage to Mrs. A.A. Weaver, who has been a member of the Harrison P.T.A. since 1918. She is the oldest member of the Harrison P.T.A.

The city council received complaints from tourists that the price of gasoline was higher in Brainerd than any other city in the state. A committee was formed to see what could be done about it.
100 years ago (1908)
Brainerd is to have a teacher's summer school and a business university. A railroad center, a center of learning and the center of the state and possibly someday a mining center.
