'The Girl Next Door'

Posted: Saturday, February 21, 2004

I want to scream. As if it isn't enough that I have to avoid entertainment television because of Howard Stern, Comedy Central because of The Man Show, and the three or four channels that run Girls Gone Wild infomercials all night long, but on every channel I have to stomach the trailer for this movie. Someone once told me that if I didn't agree with it I didn't have to watch it. It's getting difficult to avoid these days. I won't even start on what accidentally pops up on my computer. I don't want it poisoning my family.

Weapons of mass destruction

1. Gay marriage. 2. Martha Stewart trial. 3. Scott Peterson trial. 4. An expedition to Mars. 5. March Madness (coming soon). Keep focused on these things and it'll be much easier to avoid thinking about all the body bags and wounded and maimed soldiers coming home from the Middle East.

Wrong side of the tracks

I work north of Brainerd but live south of Brainerd. It's odd when I leave home the roads aren't plowed to Brainerd but north of Baxter on 371, they're plowed including the crossover in the medians. South of Brainerd can wait days for the crossover to be plowed and sometimes not at all. You may say they live a distance south. I live the same distance south as I travel north so it seems odd the northern section is more important to the state plow trucks than the south. We live on the wrong side of the tracks.

Upset about plowing

I must make a comment about Brainerd and the snow plowing. What a joke. I have lived in many different Minnesota cities and Baxter is definitely looking good to me right now. Coming home to find that your garbage cans have been dumped over by the snowplow when they're in your own driveway is absolutely ridiculous. I'm absolutely appalled that when Brainerd finally does do the snowplowing, how horrible of a job they do.
