About 70 percent of the cost to host the retreat was paid for by an anonymous foundation connected with the Brainerd lakes area, which has helped pay for the retreat for the past four years, organizers said.

The remaining costs were covered by a small cost, or $3 each, to students; a Brainerd Schools Foundation Challenge grant; and past sales of Herberger's Community Day books.
