Ward touts state's free tax preparation for seniors, others
Rep. John Ward, DFL-Brainerd, reminded people in his district that free tax preparation is available for seniors, disabled citizens and low-income earners.
Each year the Minnesota Department of Revenue coordinates the free tax preparation program with volunteers across the state helping with federal and state tax returns. In addition to seniors and disabled citizens, help is available to individuals who earn less than $30,000 a year ($40,000 or less for a family).
Those who think they may qualify may contact the Department of Revenue Web site at www.taxes.state.mn.us/vita/free_tax_prep.shtml. More information may be obtained by contacting Ward at (651) 296-4333 or by e-mail at rep.john.ward@house.mn.
