The Brainerd School District canceled school Wednesday due to projected low temperatures, school officials said Tuesday afternoon.
The decision was made after school administrators consulted with Reichert Bus Service and various weather forecasts and decided it was in the best interest of students to cancel school for the day due to the subzero temperatures.
Despite the school being closed, all Wednesday activities at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd, including Lenten services and meals, confirmation classes and music rehearsals, will be held as scheduled.
The National Weather Service in Duluth issued wind chill warning for Cass and Crow Wing counties until noon Wednesday. Lows Wednesday morning were expected to be about 20 degrees below zero. High temperatures Wednesday are expected to be near 1 degree.
