Steward advances to finals

Four Wadena boxers competed in the state Senior USA Boxing Tournament in St. Cloud last weekend.

DeWayne Steward competed in the 178-pound division, winning a fourth round RSC over Tony Love of Circle of Discipline in Minneapolis.

Sunday Steward won a second round RSC over Sam Kolle, Fergus Falls.

Brent Steward, Kody Thompson, and Trent Petro also competed, but lost decisions in the tournament that featured the best boxers in the state.

DeWayne Steward will next face Cory Thompson, Detroit Lakes, this Saturday at Fergus Falls. Bouts begin at 7 p.m. Fourteen matches are scheduled.
