Myrtle L. Tessmer, 82, Brainerd, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
She was born April 6, 1920, in Peever, S.D., to Carl J. and Minnie J. (Berg) Sturm. She graduated from Peever High School in 1938. She married Gilbert F. Tessmer on June 12, 1940. She worked at Madden's Resort for 33 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pillager since 1954 where she was active as a Luther league leader, a Sunday school teacher, a release time teacher and a member and officer in the LCW, Miriam Circle and the church study club. She was in charge of and worked at the Pillager Food Shelf for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Commercial Club of Pillager, the 4-H Club, the Pillager PTA and the Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Borgstrom, Yuma, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband; a daughter, Laverna Marsilje; a son, Gary Tessmer; a sister, Elizabeth Hanson; and three brothers, Harold Sturm, Leverne Sturm and Kenneth Sturm, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Pillager with Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.
Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Bethany Good Samaritan Chapel and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
