BACKUS -- Rev. Terrill L. Haddix, 62, Backus, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1939, in Elkins, W.V., to Ralph and Amy (Folks) Haddix. He received his education at Trevecca Nazarene College, Nashville, Tenn., and from Nazarene Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Mo. He married Anita Baker on Sept. 3, 1966, in Grand Rapids. His first parish was in Bellevue, Ohio, for 1 1/2 years. In 1969, he moved to Backus and began 33 years of ministry to the area. He was instrumental in the building of the new Church of the Nazarene in Backus in 1982. He served on the Church of the Nazarene Minnesota District Advisory Board, was trustee for the Mid-America Nazarene University for several years and served on many other boards and committees involving the church. He was also a member of the Backus Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Backus; a daughter, Barbara Darger, Madison, Wis.; two sons, Paul Haddix, Backus, Kyle Haddix, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; a sister, Iris Cutright, Elkins, W.V.; eight brothers, Ray Haddix, Church Hill, Tenn., Carl Haddix, Bowling Green, Ky., Arden Haddix, Oakland Park, Fla., Elmer Haddix, Canton, Ohio, Glenn Haddix, Columbia, W.V., Verle Haddix, Amherst, Ohio, Bruce Haddix, Elkins, W.V. and Jimmy Hokada, Marion, Va.
His parents and a son, Wade, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Backus School gymnasium with the Rev. Richard Sickels, Minnesota District superintendent, Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Melvin Patrick and the Rev. Phil Cox, Church of the Nazarene, Backus, and the Rev. Edward Foster, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Backus.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Nazarene in Backus. Fellowship time and lunch will follow the graveside service at the Backus Fire Hall. Memorials are preferred to the Terrill Haddix Fund at the First National Bank of Walker, Backus branch office in Backus.
Arrangements are with the Northland Funeral Home in Pine River.
