Brainerd Community Education is offering a wide variety of fun and educational classes running now through May 17. There are more than 12 courses ranging from computers to sea kayaking that are open to the public.
Introduction to the Internet will be offered March 6 and a few times in May. People will learn how to operate the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser and how to use Netscape Communicator. Primarily, this course will show people how to find different things on the Internet. Cost of this course is $30 and $22 for senior citizens.
From 6 to 8 p.m. March 6-13 people may take beginning rock climbing for $11 to get proper training and to try techniques that are used on large climbs such as Yosemite.
American Sign Language Two and Three will be offered in March. These courses are for those who already know sign language but want to learn more. The classes are taught by Bridget Coady, a profoundly deaf women. Cost of the courses are $35 each.
Those who want to learn more about their vehicles can take a course called Knowing Your Car. This course will teach the basics of car care, including checking the oil and other fluids, changing a tire and finding the jack. This course will be offered 6:30 to 9 p.m. March 8 and May 8 for $6.
Other courses people may enroll in include Spanish, small engine repair, pottery, loon family sweatshirt, advanced creative memories workshop, scrapbooking with photosafe albums and Sesame Street pep and extending Mr. Rogers' neighborhood.
