A 47-year-old Coon Rapids woman was found safe after being lost for about a half hour Thursday on the Spider Lake Trails in the Foot Hills State Forest southwest of Pine River.
Cass County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Thompson said Janet Barbeln was snowshoeing on a trail marked difficult when she became disoriented. About 5:30 p.m. she used her cell phone to call 911 and responding deputies used their sirens to help Barbeln determine her position to sheriff's radio dispatchers.
"Where she thought she was wasn't quite where she was at," Thompson said. "We had guys there familiar with area and we were able locate her."
The trail is located about 12 miles southwest of Pine River off Cass County Road 2.
Barbeln was showing signs of hypothermia, Thompson said, and was checked at the scene by North Ambulance. She wasn't hospitalized.
Thompson said deputies were pleased to be able to find Barbeln quickly and uninjured.
