Andrew Mehr (Brainerd High School graduate 2005), a member of the Illinois Institute of Technology swim team, and Josiah Collins (BHS 2006), a member of the Luther College swim team, recently competed at the Liberal Arts College Championships at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In individual events, Mehr won the 100 freestyle (46.33) and set a meet record during prelims (46.32). He was third in the 200 free (1:45.55) and fourth in the 50 free (21.50). Mehr's team set meet records in the 400 free relay (3:04.20) and 200 free relay (1:23.38). They also earned second-place finishes in the 400 medley relay (3:31.13) and 800 free relay (6:59.43).
Individually, Collins placed third in the 1650 freestyle (17:14.92), fifth in the 500 free (4:51.20), and sixth in the 200 free (1:46.78).
The Luther Norse won the meet and the IIT Scarlet Hawks placed third. The meet included teams from 11 NCAA and NAIA colleges.
