STAPLES -- Dixieland jazz band Jumpin' Jehosafats will perform at 7 p.m. Feb. 29 at Centennial Auditorium in Staples. Advanced reserved tickets are available until noon Feb. 27 by calling the Centennial Auditorium box office at (218) 894-5416 or 800-213-6877.
The group's repertoire includes original songs and Dixieland standards such as "Basin Street Blues," "Amazing Grace" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee."
Jumpin' Jehosafats was formed 15 years ago by tuba player Rev. Elton Brown. The group plays 20 to 30 gigs a year at churches, jails, Salvation Army shelters, nursing homes, camps for disabled adults, river boats and other unique settings. The group supports a United Methodist ministry called Operation Classroom, which builds schools in poor countries.
Members of the group include Methodist minister Lyndy Zabel on piano and vocals, Methodist minister Fritz Sauer on trumpet, Barbara York on vocals, Duey Cady on trombone and vocals, Suzanne Mades on flute and Dave Tidball on drums.
