VFW Post 2701 meets 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at Bensons in Walker.
3M provides grant to Nisswa/Lake Shore First Responders
In recognition of Ron Reph's commitment and service to the community, the 3M Foundation donated $200 to the Nisswa/Lake Shore First Responders on his behalf as part of the 3M GIVES, or the Grants Initiated by Volunteer Service program.
Reph has worked as a First Responder and has written equipment and operating grants and as president of the Nisswa/Lake Shore First Responders.
Emily Charter School carnival set March 21
EMILY -- Emily Charter School's carnival will run 6 to 9 p.m. March 21.
Part of the proceeds will be applied toward the sixth-grade class trip to Wolfridge Environmental Learning Center in April.
Carnival events will include a bake sale, free dinner, moonwalk, games, prizes, face painting, junk food walk and a clown.
Computer training for seniors to be held in Emily
EMILY -- The Region 5 Area Agency on Aging/State Health Insurance Counseling Program will sponsor Senior Surf Day computer training 4 to 6 p.m. March 20 at Emily Charter School.
Senior Surf Day offers beginner computer and Internet training geared for Medicare beneficiaries, senior citizens and caregivers. There is no charge. Participants will receive a resource manual, along with one-on-one assistance with accessing the Internet.
The following topics will be discussed: Why use the Internet, Shopping on the Internet and Search Engines. Resources surfed include Medicare, Social Security, Minnesota Board on Aging, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, as well as fun Web sites to access information. Participants will learn the basics of e-mail and sign up for their own e-mail account.
