DEERWOOD -- The Deerwood-Bay Lake Senior Citizens Club will hold its monthly potluck and meeting at noon Feb. 26 in the Deerwood American Legion Clubrooms.
Those attending are asked to provide their own dishes and silver and something to share for the meal. Coffee and cake will be provided.
Hostesses will be Ruth Yerke, Nellie Bartasky and CarolAnn Hesch. Following the meal and the meeting, games will be played. All who participate are reminded to bring a $1 Valentine-themed gift to be used for prizes.
All area senior citizens are welcome to join the club. Annual dues are $1.
Cuyuna Range Medical Team holds Relay for Life fund raiser
DEERWOOD -- Elvis and the Deerwood Lakes Lions Clown Club entertained Friday at the Cuyuna Range Medical Team's Relay for Life fund raiser at the Deerwood Auditorium.
The clowns, Cookie, Marki, Tootsie, Flower and Beggar, gave out balloons, painted faces and danced to Elvis' music.
Dairy Outlook Workshop slated March 5 in Brainerd
The University of Minnesota Extension Service and the Farm Service Agency will co-sponsor a Dairy Outlook Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon March 5 at the Sawmill Inn, 601 Washington St., Brainerd.
Regional Extension educators Jim Salfer, Dan Martens and Lee Gross will focus on dairy herd production topics, including improved profit through improved milk quality, winter injury of alfalfa, forage needs for 2003 and time management ideas for the family with dairy herds under 75 animals.
There are no fees for the program. Pre-register with the Crow Wing County Extension Office by calling 824-1065.
Bring a Friend to Campus Day set at CLC
Feb. 26 is a day students at Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples, can bring a friend to classes, have a free lunch and receive gifts.
CLC is hosting Bring a Friend to Campus Day for prospective students. Students are invited to bring friends for classroom observations and can tour either campus on their own or with a guide.
"They can visit with a technical program instructor or a faculty member from the liberal arts division," said Jane Vogt, coordinator. "Bring a Friend to Campus is one more way to help people learn more about us and see what we have to offer on both campuses."
