Coaches meetings for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's summer softball leagues are scheduled Wednesday at the Brainerd Public Utilities Building, 1151 Highland Scenic Dr. S., Baxter.
Petite League coaches will meet at 6 p.m., Junior League coaches at 7 p.m. and Senior League coaches at 8 p.m.
Discussion will include registration procedures, playing rules, draft rules, media reporting, equipment distribution, team and coaches conduct, schedules, playoffs and training.
Returning coaches and prospective coaches are encouraged to attend.

Spring youth basketball tournament set
North American Youth Sports announces that its annual spring youth basketball tournament will be May 5-7 at St. Cloud State University.
The tournament will feature 10 different brackets: 5th-6th grade boys; 5th-6th grade girls; 7th grade boys; 7th grade girls; 8th grade boys; 8th grade girls, 9th-10th grade boys; 9th-10th grade girls; 11th-12th grade boys; 11th-12th grade girls. Grades are based on the grade in which a student is currently enrolled.
Entry fee for the tournament is $90 and guarantees each team a minimum of two games. Entry deadline is April 14.

Grandma's Marathon full
DULUTH -- Registration for the 24th annual Grandma's Marathon has closed.
This year a capacity field of more than 8,000 runners will participate in the June 17 event, which begins at 7:30 a.m. near Two Harbors.
More than 14,000 runners are expected to compete in Grandma's Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and the William A. Irvin 5K. Entry forms for the half marathon on June 17 will be sent the week of Feb. 20 to those who requested one.
Entry forms for the Irvin 5K on June 18 will be available in mid-March. Exactly 1,000 registrations will be accepted for this event.
To receive an entry form for either the half marathon or the Irvin 5K send a self-addressed No. 10 business-size stamped envelope to Grandma's Marathon, P.O. Box 16234, Duluth, MN 55816.
Warriors JV loses two
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity team lost to the Sartell Sabres 58-32 Friday. Kacie Herman lead the team with eight points.
In a game Tuesday the Warriors lost to St. Cloud Tech 48-32. Herman had 18 points and Annie Zauhar had eight.
Warrior Sophomores lose
The Brainerd Warriors sophomore girls basketball team lost to the Sartell Sabres 45-44 Friday. Bekah Hewitt led the Warriors with 14 points and Krita Parrish finished with five assists.
