Like other junior high girls, Laura Dullum likes music, volleyball and driving three-wheelers. Unlike very many 13-year old girls, Laura enjoys being the goaltender on her Pequot Lakes Pee Wee hockey team.

Fourteen students from Brainerd Senior High School will take a close look at Mexican culture this summer when they spend 10 days in Mexico with the Intra-American Student Program's Student Study Travel Program.

40 years ago (1965)

An appeal from a 10 percent increase in property tax valuations in part of Crow Wing County was turned down Tuesday by the State Board of Tax Appeals.

60 years ago (1945)

Brainerd Warriors, without a victory in six of their last eight attempts, hit the comeback trail last night and got back on the victory road with an impressive 31-23 win over St. Cloud Tech. Twenty-four fouls were called on Brainerd.

80 years ago (1925)

"Roosevelt" Chapter of Brainerd Order of De Molay will be instituted with proper ceremonies Feb. 28 in the Masonic Hall. Between 40 and 50 local boys have made applications and will receive the De Molay degrees as charter members at this time.

100 years ago (1905)

The Dispatch has it on good authority that Frank Lycan of the Crookston Hotel will manage the new Ransford in this city. The Lycan brothers are among the best hotel men in the Northwest, besides being progressive, energetic and reliable businessmen.
