BOSTON (AP) -- Transplanting genetically modified hearts and other organs from pigs to people could be possible in five to seven years, but many scientific and ethical questions remain, scientists said Sunday.
Researchers are changing pigs' genes to "humanize" their organs, making them more like people's so they will serve as alternatives to human cadavers for transplanted organs.
The scientists described the progress at a conference in Boston.
