LONG PRAIRIE -- Josh Tesch's goal 2:49 into the second overtime lifted eighth-seeded Long Prairie-Grey Eagle past the No. 9 Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin Grizzlies 3-2 in the opening round of the Section 4, Class 1A boys' hockey tournament Saturday.

Grizzlies assistant coach Tony Runde said after a scramble in the corner the puck was passed to the point.

"The shot was about five feet wide, but a guy got his stick on it in front of the net as it was going wide and tipped it in," Runde said. "It was incredible."

C-I/A trailed 2-1 until 54 seconds remained in regulation. A goal by Jamie Risnes sent the game into overtime.

"We had our backs against the wall," Runde said. "We never had the lead, but each time we battled back. We willed ourselves not to go down."

The Grizzlies, who finished 1-22-0, had only 10 players in uniform Saturday.

"It's sad to lose but they went down with everything they had," Runde said. "We're extremely proud of these guys."
