MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Kevin Granato scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period Friday night, as Wisconsin extended its unbeaten streak to five games with a 3-2 victory over St. Cloud State.

Granato snapped a nine-game goal drought. The Badgers (16-11-4, 11-8-3), unbeaten in 13 straight February games, firmed their grip on fifth place in the WCHA.

Goalie Graham Melanson set two school records. He played in his 130th game, topping Duane Derksen's record, and stopped 42 shots to move past Kirk Daubenspeck on the all-time saves list with 3,537.

Scott Meyer made 28 saves for St. Cloud in his first action since missing three games to recover from a concussion.

The Badgers scored two goals in the game's first three-plus minutes. Dave Hergert scored on a power play, and Matt Doman added a goal 35 seconds later.

The Huskies (22-8-1, 15-8-0) came within one after Jeff Finger's score in the second period, and Matt Hendricks tied the game early in the third.
