GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Wes Dorey scored his second goal of the game with just over four minutes remaining in regulation to give North Dakota a 3-3 tie with Denver Friday.
Dorey's backhand shot in front of a scrum of players beat Pioneers goaltender Adam Berkhole to the high side.
The Pioneers (15-12-4, 10-10-3 WCHA) opened the scoring in the first period as Greg Barber beat Sioux goalie Andy Kollar on a feed from Kevin Doell. The Pioneers only took eight shots in the period.
North Dakota (20-5-8, 16-4-5) took the lead in the second period on goals by David Lundbohm and Dorey.
But Denver went up 3-2 late in the second period on goals by Chris Paradise and Jesse Cook.
Berkhole, playing in only his 10th game this the season, stopped 23 shots. Kollar made 28 saves. North Dakota, which had its third straight tie, are now just three points ahead of second-place Minnesota.
