MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) -- National Steel Corp. announced it will cut 200 salaried jobs and lay off an additional 30 hourly workers -- raising the total number of hourly workers laid off this year to 400.
The company did not say how many jobs could be lost at the mine in Keewatin, which employs around 550 workers.
This comes less than three weeks after the company reported a net loss of $83.4 million, or $2.02 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2000, and a loss of $129.8 million, or $3.14 per share, for the entire year.
