Korte to teach watercolor workshop in Pine River

PINE RIVER -- Gerald Korte will do one last watercolor workshop for area artists from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, in the Pine River-Backus High School commons area.

Korte, who holds a PhD, said he was retiring a year ago. When approached about doing a workshop this year his comment, after a few moments of thought, was, "OK, one last time. That is such a good group to work with."

Korte's career as an art instructor included working with all ages from preschool and up, ending with 25 years at St. Cloud State University. The information he provides at a workshop offers help to artists of all levels of experience. His critiques are positive and encouraging.

Cost: $25

Participants must preregister. A check for $25 should be made payable to Pine River-Backus Community Education and mailed to Lyn Nickisch, 9260 Edgewater Circle, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472, or call 562-4364.

Artists should bring their painting supplies and a bag lunch and arrive at least 15 minutes before starting time.

Korte is a signature member and past president of the Midwest Watercolor Society.
