Thank you to Congressman Oberstar and his office for making a good decision not only in favor of the environment but in favor of the entire Brainerd lakes area. Mr. Oberstar's office confirmed that federal and local money will not be earmarked for a French Rapids bridge study. The Minnesota Department of Transportation agrees that another bridge is not needed. The news was good for skiers, hikers, hunters, taxpayers, and citizens who want our existing roads and bridges fixed up before starting new projects that we do not need and cannot afford.
Mayor Wallin disagrees with Congressman Oberstar, the Department of Transportation, and most of the community by insisting that a French Rapids bridge is a good idea. He blames unnamed "narrow minded elected officials" for the lack of funding for the project. If the mayor is looking for a narrow minded elected official perhaps he should check his mirror.
When are you a legal alien?
I came from Canada in 1949, legally. We had physicals with chest x-rays, fingerprints, and four people over here. They would sign if we couldn't support ourselves.
I married in 1954, became an American citizen in 1957.
I recently had to turn my naturalization paper in as lost or stolen and also my new passport. I since then have found my passport.
I have to get my original naturalization paper in order to get my passport.
I have copies of everything but am told I have to wait one year before I get the original naturalization paper I paid $450 for. Then I need to send for a new passport. In the meantime I have two cousins in Canada with cancer. One has both breasts removed, her arm is swollen and draining. I have lived here since 1954. I raised my children here. I have nine grandchildren but no longer feel American.
I feel I am penalized for doing all the right things.
Now we have people walking across the border and will be forgiven.
What is wrong with this picture?
I could tell you more but I'm limited.
