What's doing

Meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at Northwest Pizza/Boardwalk Bread and Bagel in Brainerd. Arrive at 6 p.m. to order food. Discussion will be the upcoming county wide caucuses from 7-9 p.m. March 5 at the Mississippi Horizions cafeteria and the county DFL convention at 9 a.m. March 23 in the media center at Brainerd High School. Precinct packets will be available Monday. Citizens in the Pequot Lakes and Crosby areas are urged to attend the meeting and contact the chairperson Ed Shaw at 825-7030 regarding alternate caucus meetings.

Nisswa Women's Club increases scholarships

The Nisswa Women's Club will increase their three high school scholarships to $1250 for this year only. These scholarships are available to graduating seniors of Brainerd High School and Pequot Lakes High School. They student must have attended the Nisswa Elementary School for at least two years and the 11th and 12th grades at the high school. Application forms are available from Deb Balzer at Brainerd High School and Rita Ewert at Pequot Lakes High School. The three scholarship recipients will be presented at the May 16 membership meeting and luncheon.

The scholarships, plus the scholarships given to non-traditional women students over 25 years of age at Central Lakes College are funded by the annual spring fashion show. The fashion show is the club's only fund raiser. This year's show will be May 28 at Madden's.

Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary

Meeting will be 8 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion.

Meeting will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Cecil McCollough with Caren Bedard assisting. Program: Colette Miller.

Pack 83 spaghetti dinner

Pack 83 will have a spaghetti dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Adults, $5. Ages 5-12, $3. Children under five are free.

SEBRA's game party

Southeast Brainerd Resident Association will have their third annual game party from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 24 at First Lutheran Church. Bring a wrapped white elephant for a Bingo prize, a snack to share and your favorite game. Sitters provided and kids welcome to join in the games.

The Nisswa Women's Club will meet at noon Thursday at Bar Harbor restaurant. Jeff English, retired conservation officer with the DNR, will present a program on animals in Minnesota.
