A 19-year-old Lake Shore man was injured after the car he was driving slid into two Pequot Lakes school buses early Friday morning in Breezy Point.
Breezy Point Police Chief Steve Rudek said Monday that no students were injured in the accident, which occurred on a stretch of Crow Wing County Road 11 commonly referred to as the "S" curves a few miles north of Breezy Point City Hall.
The accident happened at 8 a.m. as school buses were bringing Pequot Lakes students to school.
Rudek said that a vehicle driven by Joshua Gibbons, 19, Lake Shore, was traveling northbound on the curves when it slid into the first school bus southbound on County Road 11 and then struck a second school bus traveling behind it. The roads were icy at the time of the accident, said Rudek.
Gibbons was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd where he was treated and later released. Rudek said a passenger in his vehicle was not reportedly injured.
Information released to parents on Friday by the Pequot Lakes School District reported that the accident involved buses AA and E, as well as a car. All students on the buses were OK and safely transported to school. The district implemented its district crisis plan and students were met at school by staff and help was available if needed.
