Man collides with two Pequot Lakes school buses
A 19-year-old Lake Shore man was injured after the car he was driving slid into two Pequot Lakes school buses early Friday morning in Breezy Point.

Meyer named Miss Nisswa

20 years ago (1985) - Helen Deuel was the second female rural mail carrier ever hired by the Brainerd Post Office. And now she's become the first female rural mail carrier to retire. At age 65, Deuel has driven more than 233,000 accident-free miles since 1969 to deliver mail.

As with everyone else, it seems a major appliance or a vehicle breaks down or quits working at the most undesirable time. Mid-winter when money just seems to be tight for all of us.

Why doesn't the district sell Franklin school at a profit instead of a loss? Why sell it and then rent it back over the next 10 years and almost pay them back for what they bought it from us for in the first place? Why do we need one city block of building, Washington School, for administration? Why does the new middle school need a principal and vice principal for each grade? Why did the district put thousands of dollars into a new entrance at the high school and now they're looking where to save $3 million?

On Feb. 8, and 9, over 40 members of the Congress of Minnesota Resorts participated in the organization's "Day on the Hill." The two days were spent meeting with over 60 legislators, including Governor Pawlenty, to gain support for legislation aimed at slowing the decline of resort numbers.
