FIFTY LAKES - Edward Varner, age 78, of Fifty Lakes, passed away peacefully Feb. 11, 2008, at Sunrise Cottages of Buffalo.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lafe and Hattie, and brother, Warren. Ed will be missed by son, Bruce (Nancy); daughter, Sandy (Jay) Krueger; four grandchildren, Anna (Tom) Vogel, Sarah (Derek) Barto, Erik Krueger and Chris Krueger. Also survived by brother, Curtis (Shirley); and sisters, Marian Latour and Esther Hensen.

Ed was born in Buffalo on Feb. 27, 1929. From 1962-1966, he owned Ed's Heating and Cooling in Long Lake. In 1969, he started Master Heating and Cooling in St. Louis Park. He relocated to the Brainerd lakes area in 1977. The last 30 years of his life he lived in the home he built on Butterfield Lake in Fifty Lakes. He was a very talented "jack of all trades" admired by anybody that knew him. Ed brightened up the lives of the many friends he made over the years with his fun-loving nature. He enjoyed making people laugh and smile especially his daily breakfast group at Howard's Barn in Fifty Lakes. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Our Father's Lutheran Church, 3903 Gilbert Ave SE, Rockford. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
