PINE RIVER -- Lester Richards, 80, Pine River, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
He was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Wadena County to Theodore and Ethel (Wynn) Richards. He married Madeline Pollock on Jan. 25, 1944, in Wadena. He farmed in Ansel Township and worked as a logger in Huntersville, Nimrod and Pine River for many years.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Ronald, Raymond, Gerald and Rodney, all of Pine River, and Ralph, Bemidji; four daughters, Carol Beavers, Staples, Linda Aker, Backus, Barb Carlson, Pine River, and Maggie Richards, Thompson, N.D.; 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a brother, Maynard Richards, Kelso, Wash.; and two sisters, Irene Rider, Kelso, Wash., and Shirley Richards, Pendleton, Ore.
Two brothers, Roy and Melvin, and two grandchildren, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lakeside Baptist Church in Backus with Pastor Jeffrey Broom officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Cemetery in Pine River.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River.
