HARDING -- Lorraine Marion Hayes, 80, Harding, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Country Manor Nursing Home in Sartell.
She was born June 16, 1922, in Pulaski Township to John B. and Mary (Brisk) Kurtz. She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1939. She attended Normal Teachers Training for two years. She taught school in the Harding area until 1960. She then went into full-time grocery store operation. She also worked on tax preparation in her spare time. She retired in the 1980s. She served as the Harding City Clerk for a number of years as well as the Holy Cross Church bookkeeper. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Rosary Sodality group.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Hartmann, St. Joseph, JoAnn M. Ortman, Collegeville, and Janice Cuciti, Hillsboro, Ore.; two sons, Patrick Hayes, Harding, and Peter Hayes, Rogers; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Dorothy Piasecki, Sauk Rapids, and Bernice Schley, Garrison.
Her husband, Loren W. Hayes, and a brother, John J. Kurtz, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz with a rosary sodality service at 5 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends also may call an hour before services Monday at the church.
