There will be a celebration of the arts from 2-8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Admission is free. The event will feature artists, musicians, photographers, singers and poets, including the Legacy Choir and the LOL Band. There will be a spaghetti supper from 5-6 p.m. served by Solo InC. Tenth-grade confirmands' faith statements through creative expression, David Goos' drawings and Paul Jacobsen's photography will be on display in the fellowship hall.
UCC Conference Youth Event
The First Congregational United Church of Christ of Brainerd will send their youths to the UCC Conference Youth Event at the Congregational UCC of Rochester this weekend. The main topic is "Where In The World is God?" The youths will look at other world religions, their beliefs, traditions and how they compare with our youths' faith as Christians. Speakers representing Judaism, Islam and Christianity will be featured.
Aitkin Christian Women's Club
The Aitkin Area Christian Women's Club will have a continental breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the American Legion Club. Cost: $3.75. Smorgasbord at St. John's Parish
St. John's Parish will host a smorgasbord from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Parish Center in Lastrup. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Adults, $6; ages 6-12, $4; under 6, free.
NFL veteran to speak at banquet
Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Pequot Lakes will host the first B.A.S.I.C. Youth Pizza Banquet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. This banquet is open to all seventh- through 12th-grade students regardless of where they might or might not go to church. There will be door prizes, give-aways and the featured speaker will be Barry Bennett.
Bennett, a former Minnesota State High School wrestling champion and graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, is also an 11-year NFL veteran who played defensive line for the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets and finished his last season with the Vikings. He is now a physical education teacher at Long Prairie High School and a motivational speaker around the region.

Speaker on domestic violence
Church and Society of Park United Methodist Church will sponsor a speaker, Peg VanBuren of the Mid Minnesota Women's Shelter, to speak on the subject of domestic violence in Crow Wing County. She will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Spaghetti supper at Park United
The men's club of Park United Methodist Church will have an all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets: adults, $6; children 5 to 12, $3; and ages 4 and under, free. To-go dinners will be available.
