Grizzlies claw Patriots in boys' hockey

CROSBY -- The Crosby-Ironton-Aitkin Grizzlies boys' hockey team defeated the Pequot Lakes Patriots 8-2 in the first meeting between the schools Tuesday night.

Calvin Draheim scored three goals and added three assists for the Grizzlies and teammate Trevor Betley added five assists. Two of Draheim's goals came during a first period, which saw the Grizzlies jump to a commanding 4-0 lead.

Grizzlies goaltender Dave Williams stoppged 23 shots.

LOCATION -- Jon Smieja scored his first career goal for the Little Falls Flyers boys' hockey team but it was the only highlight for the Flyers as they were defeated 8-1 by the Alexandria Cardinals in a Central Lakes Conference game Tuesday.
