Grant would help fire departments

ST. PAUL -- State Sen. Don Samuelson, DFL-Brainerd, has announced the creation of a $100 million federal grant program to be available for fire departments sometime in February.
Congress appropriated the money to the Firefighter Investment and Response Act last December, and currently the Federal Emergency Management Agency is determining the specifics of the program.
"I encourage my local fire departments to take advantage of this program," said Samuelson. "Congress has been trying for years to make this money available."
