Brainerd grad to speak at banquet

Lt. Gen. Bruce Carlson, a 1967 graduate of Washington High School in Brainerd, will be the guest speaker this weekend at a formal military banquet for the Air Force ROTC at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Carlson is stationed at the Pentagon where he serves as an adviser to the Joint Chiefs of Staff on military resources and budgetary issues. An experienced pilot, he is a former commander of the F-117 Stealth Fighter Wing.

The general will tour the UMD campus, the Minnesota Air National Guard units in Duluth and Minneapolis and visit with family in Brainerd during the weekend. He is a 1971 UMD graduate and was recognized as a distinguished graduate of the AFROTC program.
