20 years ago (1990)

Brainerd School District voters turned out in record numbers to defeat a $25.5 million bond issue by a decisive margin. Despite bitterly cold weather there was 50 percent voter turnout to turn down a new junior high, an auditorium and building renovations.

30 years ago (1980)

When Roseanne Caughey predicted that her infant would probably be the first to be delivered at home by an ambulance crew, she was joking. But Terry Moberg, owner of Brainerd ambulance, said his crew delivering the twins was a first in his 15 years here.

40 years ago (1970)

60 years ago (1950)

Both remaining Brainerd Region Two Golden Glovers went down to defeat before 8,500 spectators at the 21st annual Golden Glove tournament in Minneapolis. Tommy Herron pounded out a win in the semi-finals, but lost a split decision in the lightweight finals.

80 years ago (1930)

(Adv.) Today and Friday - The Girl from Havana, an all-talking Fox Movietone picture starring Lola Lane and Paul Page. Saturday midnight showing of The Love Parade, starring Maurice Chevalier -all at The Paramount Theatre - Brainerd.

100 years ago (1910)

Col. Thorpe came down today from Hubert on his way to Galveston, Texas, where he has portraits to paint of two prominent citizens. One is that of Col. Moody, pioneer Galveston banker. He is expected to be absent until spring.
