Crow Wing County Administrator David Hamilton got the county board's blessing to leave his post here at the end of February in order to assume the administrator's job in Hernando County, Fla. He was willing to stay through the end of March, but requested the option to leave in a couple of weeks.
Hamilton said the move is bittersweet as he enjoyed his time in the Brainerd lakes area. But he is ready for the budget challenge of a $10 million statutory reduction in Florida.
Hearing that budget issue, Crow Wing County Board Chairwoman Rachel Reabe Nystrom got laughs from the crowd when she suggested that Hamilton may want to have help from one of the commissioners here.
"You better take Paul Thiede with you," Nystrom said.
