20 years ago (1988)

Terry Holm of Brainerd placed second in the 40-49 age group with a time of one hour, 28 minutes and four seconds at the 32km cross country ski race at the Mora Vasaloppet Sunday.

30 years ago (1978)

Employment in Brainerd for January showed a loss of 104 jobs from December totals. The total number of jobs is 6,962. Januarys largest decreases came in manufacturing

40 years ago (1968)

John Sundby, Brainerd, scored a unanimous decision win in the first round of the Upper Midwest Golden Glove Tournament in Minneapolis and now he squares off against arch-rival Bob Nesenson for the title.

60 years ago (1948)

A report from Brainerd retail merchants. Probably the greatest drop in prices has been in pork and pork products. Pork has dropped 7 cents to 10 cents a pound. In a 24-hour period the price of butter melted by seven cents per pound. Flour has dropped a dollar per hundred pounds, but the price of bread remains the same.

80 years ago (1928)

100 years ago (1908)

The shops will re-open on Monday. Full force will be put on in all departments of the Northern Pacific Shops. The shops shut down instead of lay off because all men will be needed in the near future.
