LONG PRAIRIE -- The Long Prairie Fire Department responded to a fire Tuesday at the Karl Lawin farm six miles east of Long Prairie in Burnhamville Township.
The fire happened about 8:45 a.m.
A large barn with about 2,500 hay bales, 1,000 bales of straw, a shop with wood working tools and other items was lost in the fire.
The fire department, using more than 109,000 gallons of water, contained the fire to the barn. There were no injuries.
The Long Prairie Fire Department was on the scene until 4:20 p.m. The Grey Eagle Fire Department assisted.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Brainerd Fire Department investigated at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday a report of a cooking fire at a residence in the 400 block of C Street.
There was no damage to the building. Firefighters ventilated the smoke.
