Burt Knandel, Brainerd vocational school floral instructor, will be one of three featured speakers at a horticulture seminar, Feb. 20 in Crookston. The seminar is sponsored by the University of Minnesota.

30 years ago (1974)

The after-duty barracks chatter at Camp Ripley took on a strange new sound last Saturday, as a platoon of the Norwegian Home Guard arrived at the camp to take part in one of the military's first "Foreign Exchange Programs."

40 years ago (1964)

The Brainerd area dairy industry, which provides about two million dollars a year to the area economy, will be paid tribute here Wednesday in a Dairy Industry Appreciation Day.

60 years ago (1944)

Marvin Falk, vice president of the FFA recently received a $25 war bond prize in the 1943 food production contest sponsored by the Sears Roebuck Foundation.

80 years ago (1924)

A committee of the Chamber of Commerce has been working on a plan which would encourage people in helping beautify Brainerd by planting hardy shrubs and trees in their yards.

100 years ago (1904)

The statement made here five weeks ago that the Great Northern and Northern Pacific would soon be using the Northern Pacific Station here as a Union Passenger Station has been authoritatively confirmed.
