PRINCETON -- Anthony "Tony" H. Gunnink, 74, Princeton, formerly of Garrison, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.
He was born May 23, 1928, in Moulton Township to John and Hattie (Evink) Gunnink Jr. He attended country school in Murray County in southern Minnesota. He married Bonita Patten on Sept. 11, 1951, in Pease. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. After his discharge from the Army, he worked various jobs until going to work with the Minnesota Department of Transportation where he worked for 26 years. He retired in 1991. They lived in Elk River for 22 years. They moved to Garrison after retirement. They lived in Princeton the past two years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wanda, Princeton, and Kathy Francies, Brainerd; a son, Timothy, California; a grandchild; and four brothers, John, Princeton, Wally, McGregor, Hank, Fridley, and Alvin, Milaca.
His parents and a sister, Jenny, died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Princeton with the Rev. Wayne Schrode officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin Cemetery in Princeton.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Williams-Hanson-Kaun Funeral Home in Princeton and an hour before services Friday at the church.
