Teresa Serfling, the daughter of Curt and Kathy Serfling of McGregor, was selected as student of the month for January by the youth activities committee of the Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615.
Serfling is a senior at McGregor High School and is involved in band, track, volleyball and basketball. She also was a homecoming candidate. She plans to attend Bemidji State University to major in special education.
Stephanie Adams, Brainerd, has been named to the dean's list for fall semester 2000 at Northwest Technical College Bemidji. Adams is enrolled in the sales, marketing and management program at the college.
The following area students were named to the dean's list at the College of Saint Benedict-Saint John's for the 2000 fall semester: Jacob Zauhar, the son of Steve and Lois Zauhar of Baxter, is majoring in elementary education; Karla Waldorf, the daughter of Pat and Bob Waldorf of Brainerd, a senior majoring in biology; Jason O'Day, the son of Kevin and Denise O'Day of Baxter, is a senior majoring in pre-medicine; Brian Kalinoski, the son of Stanley and Mary Kalinoski of Brainerd, is a junior majoring in biology; Laura Furda, the daughter of Dave and Cindy Furda of Brainerd, is a first-year student majoring in biology/pre-medicine; and Nicholas DeVries, the son of John and Karen DeVries of Brainerd, is a senior majoring in English and art.
Christopher Knopik, Little Falls, participated in a study program and tour of Malaysia and Thailand offered by Bemidji State University. Knopik is a sophomore majoring in accounting and business administration.
Carissa Clemens, Baxter, and her family will observe family weekend Feb. 23-25 at Augustana College. The weekend is an opportunity for families of Augustana students to come to campus and share meals and activities with their daughters, sons, brothers and sisters.
Activities include Augustana Vikings men's and women's basketball games against the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University.
Kathryn Marie Schoepf, Little Falls, has been nominated for the 2001 student leadership award from the University of Wisconsin. Four of the nominees will receive awards during a Feb. 21 ceremony. All nominees will be recognized during the ceremony, which will feature "Famous Dave" Anderson, a founder of Famous Dave's Barbecue, who will give a presentation titled "Thoughts on Leadership".
Schoepf is a senior majoring in communication.

Sandoz is a senior at Pequot Lakes High School and is involved in German Club, Art Club, Students Against Drunk Drivers and does volunteer work in the community. She works at Sibley Station and plans to attend Central Lakes College to major in elementary education.
Jennifer Newhouse, Baxter, was named to the dean's list for the 2000 fall semester at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Naomi Miller, the daughter of Randy and Wendy Miller of Brainerd, was recently named to the dean's list for the 2000 fall semester at Crown College in St. Bonifacius. Miller is a junior majoring in English and is a member of the women's volleyball team.
