20 years ago (1988)

Exhaust fumes from hundreds of vehicles hung in the air above Brainerd streets this morning when the temperatures hit minus 36 degrees.

30 years ago (1978)

Meeting as an ordinance committee the Brainerd City Council requested City Attorney D.A. Larson to study the possibility of allowing overnight camping in Lum Park.

40 years ago (1968)

The insurance company was to present the city of Brainerd with a safety award this afternoon. The award is being presented because the city was "far below average" in accident claims. There were only seven claims during this year.

60 years ago (1948)

The people of Brainerd will be offered a new and all modern eating place in the recently revamped Windsor Hotel building at 419 South Seventh Street. The new "Lunch Nook" is one of the most modern eating places in the northwest.

80 years ago (1928)

B. C. Pulkrabek of the Tee Pee Oil Company left Wednesday for Appleton, Minn. He will return Wednesday, bringing his family with him, who will make their home here.

100 years ago (1908)

I.U. White, I.C. White, John Geoderz, Tim, Amos and Louis Hohman went out to Mr. White's cottage on Gull Lake yesterday to put up the season's supply of ice. That combination ought to do the work in short order.
