BAXTER -- Crow Wing County United Way drive volunteers marked a successful drive and recognized outstanding contributors at a celebration Tuesday at Pine Meadows Golf Course in Baxter.
Randy Hansen, assistant principal at Washington Middle School, was named the new chair for the United Way board. Julia Sullivan, the 2003 campaign co-chair, will serve as co-chair again in 2004. Her co-chair for the 2004 drive will be named at a later date.
Cuyuna Regional Medical Center was presented with the Legacy Award for outstanding campaign participation and volunteering. The medical center also received a Pillar Award for raising $10,000 or more during its drive.
Other Pillar Award winners were the Brainerd School District, Bremer Bank, Clow Stamping Co., Cool 101.5/B93.3/WJJY, Graphic Packaging International, Herberger's, St. Joseph's Medical Center, Target and Wal-Mart.
In addition 23 firms were given Community Builder Awards for increasing their campaign donations by 20 percent or more.
Heidi Funk, executive director of the Crow Wing County United Way, distributed the awards.
The 2003 campaign raised $420,000 as of mid-January.
