Posted: Wednesday, February 11, 2004

Central Lakes College men's basketball coach Jim Russell led his student athletes on a mission of good will last week.

Friday, the team responded to a request to move the Joe Ewald family from Baxter to a new home in Merrifield. Team members were treated with a ham dinner and a day off from basketball practice.

Saturday morning, they provided a clinic for children at the Brainerd Family YMCA. That afternoon, they played their way to an 8-0 record in North Division action of the Minnesota Community College Conference by defeating Itasca 115-77.

Louis Roseman, a freshman from Benton Harbor, Mich., was one of the Central Lakes College basketball players putting youngsters through drills Saturday at the Brainerd Family YMCA.
